Friday 19 March - Tarneybackle

Tarneybackle is one of Scotland's popular folk groups, performing a wide range of traditional andcontemporary folk music. The band sing mainly Scottish folk songs, adding in some tunes and material from North America and Ireland. Close harmony singing is Tarneybackle's hallmark. Songs are accompanied by a sensitive blend of guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, octave mandola, flute, whistles and percussion.


 

Friday 23 April - George Murphy

 

George Murphy, (Vocalist, Guitar and Bodhran player) makes his first solo appearance at Dalgety Bay Folk Club on Friday 23 April.  For many years George was a member of the Failte Folk Group in Ireland.  In addition to his musical skills George is famous for his tall stories and good craic.

 

  

Friday 14 May - North Sea Gas 

North Sea Gas are Dave Gilfillan, Ronnie MacDonald and Grant Simpson.  On occasion within Scotland, North Sea Gas are augmented by the wonderful talents of Gerry McKenna.  Going on for twenty-nine years!! and stronger than ever.  One of Scotland's most popular bands, with Guitars, Mandolin, Fiddle, Bouzouki, Bodhrans, Whistles, Banjo, great vocals with tremendous three part harmonies.

  

Friday 18 June - Luckenbooth 

We are the original Luckenbooth, a four-piece folk band formed in 1999. We play traditional and contemporary folk music with a sprinkling of pop.  Based in Lanarkshire, we have played at Stirling, Falkirk, Dunfermline, Chapelton, Stonehouse, Leith and Crail Folk Clubs and also the Wee Folk Club in Edinburgh. We have also played at the Tinto and Lomond Folk Festivals and have performed in the Open Stage at Cetic Connections. We released an album entitled "Finally Tuned" in December 2006.

  

Friday 20 August - Gaberlunzie

The Gabs, as they are popularly called among their loyal following of supporters, have a wealth of experience in performing for a wide variety of audiences - from folk clubs to football stadiums, from holiday resorts to concert halls. They have appeared many times on television and radio not only in the UK but also in Canada, and the United States.

  

Friday 17 September - On the Wagon

This well-established working group from Crieff, Perthsire, was formed in 1997, and is centred around the talents of Derek Richardson, Pat Stuart (who together also perform as Tandem) and Ken Charleson, with Davy McMartin.

  

Friday 8 October - Cairdeas

Hailing from central Scotland, Càirdeas (pronounced car-dis) are a lively, entertaining and highly accomplished trio performing Scottish folk music with personality, fun and an unforgettable stage persona! From traditional and contemporary Scottish songs to haunting melodies and electrifying high-speed reels, their music revolves around powerful vocals, additional melodies and driving rhythmic accompaniment.

  

Friday 19 November- McCalmans

26 albums, countless television series, world tours in every direction.  They've headed the bill at London’s Albert Hall and the smallest of folk clubs, sung in deserts, jungles, arctic wastes and remote islands.  Scottish contemporary/traditional but always different.   'Best Live act', Traditional Music Awards.  'The Danish Folk Prize' and 'The Sandy Bells Cup' (what! You've never heard of 'The Sandy Bells Cup'?)

  

Friday 3 December - Yard of Ale

If you like your music folksy, country, traditional or contemporary with plenty of close harmony and cheeky banter, Yard of Ale are the band for you. they will be playing and singing Scottish music, Irish music, American music and, if it takes our fancy, some English music. Acoustic guitars, banjos, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica, whistle, washboards, kazoos, in fact anything they can rattle a good tune or rhythm out of will be pressed into service.
